I've heard various preachers/teachers teach that not only should Christians tithe their income, but Christians should tithe their time also. In other words, we should give God 1/10 of our time each day.
So out of 24 hours, we should give 2.4 hours each day devoted only to God.
First, has anyone else here heard such teaching as this? Second, where do those who teach this find it in scripture? I've never heard their biblical basis for it...other than "we're supposed to tithe our time". Third, how does 2.4 hours compare to loving God with all of our heart, soul, and mind? I thought our entire lives were supposed to be devoted to the Lord?
My thoughts are, many of those who teach "time-tithing" are using it as a means to build their empire ministry. Using guilt and manipulation to get others to devote time to "the ministry" instead of God. I've personally seen several homes become ship-wrecked through this type of manipulation...where the pastor demands time from the church staff, school staff, and church members...all to "build it bigger". It's a "time-tithe" devoted to the pastor and his desires...
Let me be clear...I have no problem with devoting time to God; we should. But where did this "time-tithing" come from?

"Time Tithe" is a doctrine totally foreign to the Word of God.
First and foremeost, the only commanded tithe recorded in Scripture is the tithe of crops and livestock.
So many, say that "If you can't tithe your money, then you can tithe other things... you can tithe your Time and Talent." Yes, I've heard this statement mena times through the years.
I think people who come up with this are giving the ones spoken to a false sense of "doing what God required, so I'm OK".
In reality, God never required Tithe of Time, Talents, or money anywhere in His Holy Word.
