The Mosaic Law still applies today. That 's right, the Law still applies today.
Shocked that I, as a Christian, would suggest that the Law is to be followed? Well, you really shouldn't be... it's in the Bible.
1 Timothy 1:5-11 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
In the above passage, the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that the Law was still in effect.
But the righteous need not worry, the Law is not for them. It is for the unrighteous... the unsaved.
In verses eight through ten (bolded) Paul explains who the Law is for. The last verse states that the Law is for any who teach "contrary to sound doctrine." Those who teach contrary to sound doctine are under the Law and not under grace.
Oh, grace has been extended, but because they choose to teach false doctrine, that grace has never been bestowed. How do they teach false doctrine? In their monetary tithe requirement.
Pastors who teach the monetary tithe are teaching contrary to sound doctrine. They tell their members if they don't tithe they are "robbing God." They then tell their members that God requires 10% of their money as a tithe. Both statements are false. God does not require 10% of their money as a tithe, and they are not robbing God if they don't tithe their money.
Pastors who tell their congregations that they are robbing God will have them turn to Malachi 3:8-10 for proof that they are "robbing God. They point ou the fact that God said He was being robbed because tithes were not brought into the storehouse. That is their prooftext. "Tithes must be brought into the storehouse or you are robbing God!"
Yet, was Malachi speaking of a tithe of money? No, he was speaking of the tithe that was required under the Law... a tithe of crops and livestock. Money was never tithed under the Law. Yet pastors insist that money be tithed.
Yes, the teacher and preacher that tells his congregation that they are to tithe their money is teaching contrary to sound doctrine and is therefore bound by the Law and must continue in all the things written in the Law to do them.
Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
